France
Management of the full activity of a Real Estate software edition. Responsible for customer relations (300 agencies), sales, hot line, programming (Windev), billing, advertising with the help of a team of one sales representative, one programmer and a Web designer.
One key achievement was putting into production a new version of the software including many improvements with an extremely positive feedback from customers. This project was an excellent opportunity to be involved in Web technologies. Two web sites were launched: www.microcode.fr and www.habitersurlacote.com. It was also an opportunity to be responsible for sales and marketing with successful new offers. The in-depth work involved in this position brought more dynamic and structured commercial methods.
My duties included some missions as Technical Project Manager and RPG expert for:
SODEXHO : maintenance of a financial reporting software (SAP integration with RPG)
Unilog (LogicaCMG group) for ESCOTA - highway operator: operational project manager, analyst programmer with a team of 3 analyst-programmers (RPG, RPG ILE).
These missions gave me a chance to work with large companies where my abilities were appreciated.
New Caledonia
Responsible for a team of 2 to 7 analyst-programmers, a system engineer and a training manager. My main duties were the creation/conceptualisation/implementation of customer solutions including numerous associated tasks: pre-sales, quotation, specification, planning, analysis, architecture, conception, implementation, training, maintenance, support and consulting.
This experience was extremely valuable and gave me a broad understanding of Software Engineering in a Small and Medium Business environment. I have acquired the ability to understand customer needs, as well as a good ability to manage a team and drive a quality project within time and budget constraints. I had contacts with all levels of business including executive management.
These positions lead me to many successful projects such as:
International freight and custom clearance software development. The initial project took more than one year with a budget of $0.7million (RPG, RPG ILE, OS/400). It included two customer sites, one in New Caledonia and one in French Polynesia. After many evolutions from 1992 to 2004 and 2 new customers’ installations, a new version with n-tiers technology was my last project (PROGRESS v9 GUI & AppServer; 44 workstations, 7 servers iSeries, Linux, Windows).
Car dealer software development including: sales of new and used cars, spare part inventory, after sale and workshop. Used by most of New Caledonian car dealers in 2005. Many evolutions from 1990 to 2004 (RPG / RPG ILE; 60 workstations, 4 iSerie servers).
Hospitality software support: Hogatex Front Office, Infogenesis (Point Of Sale) in 6 hotels (3 hotels with more than 100 rooms), including accounting integration (30 workstations, 5 Windows/Linux servers), from 2000 to end of 2004.
Coastal trade shipping (freight and passengers) software development with a team of two analyst-programmers, 9 months in 2000 (Progress v9 GUI & Db; 8 workstations, 1 AIX server).
Year 2000 project for all ORUS company software products. From June 1999 to January 2000 (RPG/RPG ILE).
Hypermarkets and supermarkets software maintenance between 1992 and 1997. Development of new modules for items centralisation and import price computation (RPG II, RPG III, RPG ILE; 6 iSerie servers).
I was involved in various smaller projects such as directory publishing for Polynesia and New Caledonia, internal CRM, mining payroll, integration to various accounting products and support for payroll, accounting and private hospital.
Due to my expertise, I was also System Administrator for all the customer IBM iSerie servers (over 30 systems), including software upgrades and recovery plans.
